Swap shop for kids
www.jumbleworld.com
Having taken a quick look around the site for this review we thought it would be fair to say at the start it was not for us but that does not mean that it is not a good idea with a little fine-tuning would be great.
Jumbleworld is obviously trying to compete with ebay on a number of levels and we thought the best part of the site was going to be the SWAP function. In reality most of the items listed on the site are for sale and it requires accounts and all sorts to complete a transaction.
As an eBay competitor it is very limited but on the plus side it has a number of controls in place that mean that children are not giving away personal details and allows parents a certain amount of control over what is happening.
Overall some of the concepts of the site are really good – it could be developed into a great swap shop concept. Maybe in the next few months as more people use the site it will get better.
We’re giving the site two stars at the moment – If you are a USER please let us know what you think of the site by posting a comment.

Since the World Wide Web was first spun, adults have dominated online trading sites, such as Ebay, as parents top concern was safety for their children. However, in 2008, parent’s fears of security have been answered by the launch of Jumbleworld.com, the only swapping, selling, buying and bidding site exclusively for children, which is overseen by parents and guardians.
Jumbleworld.com provides children and teens with an easy, fun and safe environment to buy, sell or swap things they no longer use in exchange for the things they really want. Jumbleworld.com introduces young people to an exciting world of e-commerce which allows them to make money easily with unrivalled levels of protection. Unlike any other trading site, parents or guardians are required to sign up to the site while thorough safety checks are carried out prior to children becoming members.
On Jumbleworld.com, children are free to trade or swap everything from toys and games, music and films, clothes and gadgets to cards and collectables. Parents or guardians receive notifications of any communications between their children and other users and must approve any trades for the deals to be completed. As an extra safety measure, parents or guardians are required to successful go through two phases of security checks, such as electoral roll and postcode address file checks to ensure that children trading are protected.
While e-trading is a popular and enjoyable online activity, it is often complicated and aimed at an adult audience. Jumbleworld.com is different. It’s commission-free, safe, simple and packed with fun features for children and teens. The site is designed to help children improve their money management skills and learn about the value of their possessions. Children are encouraged to take an active role in saving for and buying things they want for themselves, rather than pestering their parents; a valuable lesson after the festive season.
Jumbleworld.com is committed to the welfare and protection of children and officially partners Kidscape, the UK’s first charity established specifically to prevent bullying and child sexual abuse. 10% of all Jumbleworld.com fees are donated to the charity and there is a dedicated Kidscape area within Jumbleworld.com to help children tackle cyber-bullying.
