Halloween WebsitesWe’ve been asking around all our contacts for some websites for Halloween so thought we’d put together a quick list for all those people who love scarring themselves. They are not exactly reviews just some websites we’ve come across in our travels that we like so here’s the list:

Hauntedhappenings.co.uk – If you are looking for a spooky event these guys run their own ghost tours throughout the country. Visit haunted castles and mysterious places but watch out these are not for the faint hearted.

Rent A Private Holiday Home

Rent holiday homesIt’s nearly November and many people are wondering what they will do with the family over the Christmas holidays or even looking further ahead into next year to book something for the summer so we think we’ve found a nice website that may give you a few ideas on where to stay in the UK. Called bluebellsandseashells.co.uk the site aims to put promote private holiday homes, guest houses and bed and breakfasts around the UK.

About The Website
Bluebellsandseashells.co.uk has only just launched so there is a limited amount of properties available to view but all the ones listed have large images you can see, details of the accommodation and booking information. The site also has a nice search engine so if you know where you want to stay you can quickly find a property in the area.

For holiday home owners the site is a great way to promote your letting opportunity as they are offering free sign up for six months and you can also track how many people view your property. At the same time bluebellsandseashells.co.uk will do all the marketing to get people to the website and after the first six months listing your property is only £25 a year which is a bit of a bargain compared to many other sites.

What We Think
Although there are a number of other similar websites we did like this one as it was very easy to use and concentrated on UK properties. It also provides a great marketing opportunity for smaller businesses or holiday home owners so we hop you will give it a try.

The Taste Of Your Childhood

Buy retro sweets onlineWe never realised that there were so many online sweet shops until we did a review of one earlier in the year and got inundated with requests to review other websites so like the BBC say we feel it is only fair to mention some of the others and one that we have picked to do a quick review of is aquarterof.co.uk.

About The Website
The reason why we selected aquarterof.co.uk to review is apart from selling a fantastic line of sweets (maybe they will send us some !!!) they actually have some great selection boxes with all those ones we all remember from a few decades ago.

The website itself is fairly easy to get around and there is a nice navigation on the left that helps you find what you want really quickly. As you would expect the payments system is secure and deliveries are generally sent by courier so are fairly speedy. Aquarterof.co.uk was one of the original online sweet shops so has picked up a very good reputation for both quality and customer service which always gets a thumbs up from us.

What We Think
A nice website that does exactly as it says – sell sweets. If you’ve got a sweet tooth it is well worth checking out aquarterof.co.uk

How To Get Your Bloke The Right Present

Gadgets and presents for menIt doesn’t matter if it’s Christmas or birthdays finding your bloke the right present can be a real pain. What do you want for Christmas/birthday etc. is usually met with a shrug of the shoulders and a grunt but we think we’ve found a website that may answer that age old question – called paramountzone.com the website lists all those gifts that blokes just love so we thought we’d put together a review so you can go and check it out.

About The Website
As you would probably expect Paramountzone.com is a site that is jam packed with everything from gadgets to games that are either novelty gifts or will keep him amused for hours. The website basically has everything you want on it and we took a few minutes to check out the best bits – it has some good suggestions for Christmas gifts including mini remote helicopters (keep him away from the beer for an hour or so) through to an apron with cooking instructions when he doesn’t get the hint.

The website is fully secure and delivery is not included on orders under £60 so don’t forget to factor it into the cost.

What We Think
We quite liked Paramountzone.com as it has pretty much everything you would want all in one place. If your man just can’t decide or has given you no clues simply get him to go on this site and tell you what he really wants.

Arts and Crafts from Local Suppliers

Local arts and crafts At What’s Good On The Web we are great fans of anything that promotes local small businesses and in times of recession we should all do our part so we thought we’d put together a quick review of MadeByHandsOfBritain.com. The website is aimed at helping small artisan businesses promote their products and services to a wider online community.

About The Website
MadeByHandsOfBritain.com has been put together by a bunch of people who have a passion for hand made things. This can be everything from simple baskets through to the bespoke boats – the website itself has been developed as both a shop front for these craftspeople as well as a way to sell additional products.

The site itself is very easy to use and you can search by County or by product type and if you want order online . Each of the companies has their own page with a bit more explanation of what they do (or can do) as well as the products for sale and everything is handled through a secure payments site.

What We Think
We really liked the concept behind MadebyHandsOfBritain.comand it’s good to see traditional businesses branching out onto the internet so if you are looking for something a bit more unique then we’d suggest you have a look at the website.

Save a Fortune on Cold and Flu Remedies

Save money on your cold and flu remediesToday I had the unfortunate task of going to the supermarket to buy a range of cold and flu remedies which I was shocked to find cost a small fortune. Now it’s the cold and flu season we are all likely to be spending a few extra quid on these things so when I got back I did a quick search on the Internet and found a website called Chemistdirect.co.uk which sells a range of discounted products that you would normally find on the high street so thought we’d give it a review especially as I could of saved a bit of cash.

About The Website
Although we’ve mentioned that chemistdirect.co.uk sell cold and flu remedies you may be surprised to find out that actually they sell nearly everything you would find in your normal chemist shop from deodorants through to ranges of vitamins. The range of brands was also quite impressive with most, if not all, of the usual suspects and the prices are quite heavily discounted so you can save a few quid using the site.

They offer free delivery on orders over £40 to anywhere in the UK which when you think about it is quite low especially as many of the items are so bulky. Having checked out our last couple of shopping receipts I worked out that if we had used the site for just day to day things we would of saved about £8 and for cold and flu stuff a further £2.

What We Think
Many people are looking at saving money these days and using online shopping sites like chemistdirect.co.uk these savings can really add up. We liked the way their site was laid out with everything very easy to find and they also tell you the likely saving from high street prices.

If you are looking at stocking up on cold and flu remedies this autumn we’d suggest you have a look at Chemistdirect.co.uk
