Win New Business at the Click of a Mouse

One of the biggest difficulties for any business is developing new business leads. As soon as you win one customer another drops off and with budgets tight many companies cannot afford a large sales force or marketing programme so they need to look for business in smarter, more dynamic ways. Using the Internet as a sales tool is one of the most popular ways to generate new business but often it can be a shot in the dark rather than a way to meet real customers so when we heard about Freeindex, the sales and supplier introduction website, we therefore thought we should put together a quick review of the website for our readers.

About The Site
Freeindex is a business directory that provides sales leads for UK based companies. The basics of the site are very simple, companies who are looking for services can search from thousands of companies listed who offer a specific type of service or they can list their requirements and receive pitches from companies who can deliver the service they are looking for.

According to the site they have over 1.2 million visitors each month and just by doing a quick search based the service you can provide (or are looking for) you can find possible opportunities. We did a search on marketing and found about three pages of opportunities listed from simple telemarketing projects through to large creative design requirements.

Unlike many of the other lead generation services online the site is totally free to use and is paid for through advertising rather than subscription.

What We Think
At What’s Good On The Web we have had a little prior experience of Freeindex and think it is a really good idea especially with businesses looking for cheaper ways to market their services or find a good deal. It does not try to hide opportunities behind a login area but allows users to browse opportunities freely and tender for jobs if they want to.

Overall we were very impressed with Freeindex, it’s easy to navigate around, clearly shows the opportunities, and as an added advantage you can also see how many other companies have bid for a job. As more and more companies find out about the site we think it will continue to grow and will no doubt become the number one website for any Sales Director looking for new business.

Please let us know your comments on Freeindex and don’t forget to visit the site, new business awaits.

Business advice ….. where to start

Understanding your responsibilities as a business owner or director can be a bit of a minefield especially as it can often be difficult or expensive to find good solid business advice. That’s why when WhatsGoodOnTheWeb was told about www.lawdonut.co.uk we thought it was worth giving the site a quick review.

Backed by the Royal Mail and Google the Lawdonut site is a great place to start for anyone who is after information on a range of topics and subjects from employment law through to intellectual property. The site is well laid out and has tons of information available at a click of a button. Thankfully most of the information is not hidden behind a login although there is some additional information and advice if you want to register (which is free).

The site is one of a series that have been put together by BHP Information Services, others include marketing your business and also how to startup a business which we will review in the future.

All in all we really like www.lawdonut.co.uk – information is clear and structured very well providing a good grounding on the subject areas it covers. Therefore if you are looking for some business advice this website could be a great place to start.

Watch Business Expert Interviews Online

As you all know What’s Good On The Web is a pretty new venture so we are regularly looking for independent advice on both setting up and running the business. It would be fairly easy just to visit a local accountant but it is also useful to get a sounding from business professionals across all different markets and experiences.

When we came across www.meettheboss.tv we initially thought it was one of those sites that offered a few snippets of information and then charged a small fortune to see any additional content but we were pleasantly surprised to find that they offered free registration that enables viewers to access hours and hours of recorded interviews from industry leaders and business people from both the UK and Overseas.

Having spent a good bit of time on meettheboss.tv we’d say that it offers a very good insight into the world of business from all aspects including marketing, sales, training and human resources so we’d strongly recommend any business person to take a look at the site and see what business advice you can use in your business.

Dragon Gives Business Startup Advice

Since it started Dragons Den has had a huge following with viewers fascinated to watch budding entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to a panel of tried and tested business people who offer criticism, advice and sometimes even investment.

One of the original Dragons was Doug Richards who had made his name in the world of technology and regularly supported many of the IT businesses looking for investment. Since then Doug has launched his own website, www.schoolforstartups.co.uk , aimed at providing business training for new entrepreneurs.

Having looked through the site (and especially as we are a business startup!!) we like the site because it has a good mix of solid business advice from how to use free PR sites to help your website SEO, through to startup events that you can attend to get insight from people in the know.

At WhatsGoodOnTheWeb we really like School For Startups. It gives practical information on running a business, allows you to connect with other startup businesses for support or developing business opportunities and also gives clear advice on what and how you should go about starting your own business.

If your looking for clear and practical advice on starting up your own business www.schoolforstartups.co.uk  a must read site.

Improve your PC Security

www.malwarecity.com

You only have to pick up a newspaper or check out a news website to hear about the latest and greatest security threat. Malwarecity is a new site from the creators of BITDEFENDER, one of the numerous PC antivirus solutions available.

The site is aimed at providing information on the latest threats to PC security but is a little more “trendy” than others out there. The objective, of course, is so that you buy an antivirus application from Bitdefender but it does provide a useful resource and tells you about some of the latest security problems.

Overall we thought the site was OK but what we would really love is one of the Internet security companies to come up with an impartial site that lists all the products and all the solutions on the market. We know this is wishful thinking but they are all working towards the same goal – protecting your PC.

We’re giving the site two stars at the moment – Malwarecity is useful and can educate those people who know very little about PC security but more tools would really make this a great site – Go on Bitdefender – less sales and a bit more help and we’d love you.
