Go Green, save money …. share

With the cost of motoring spiralling, higher insurance costs and fuel continually going up in price many people are looking for an alternative to owning their own car especially if they live and work in a city. Therefore the idea of a car club is becoming more appealing.

Basically a car club is where people who may need a car for a short period of time, but not everyday, can hire a one at a much reduced rate for the time they need it whether it is half an hour or a few days. This means that they don’t have to pay the normal costs associated with motoring from insurance through to maintenance and have the option to get a car (or even van) when they need it. In addition it’s a very eco way to use a car as you’re not having one sitting around when its not in use.

Thats why we thought we would write a review on one of the most popular companies to offer the Car Club service in the UK which is called www.citycarclub.co.uk  they have been around since 2000 and you could say that they were the first to import the idea from the USA.

The thing we like about CityCarClub offer cars in most major cities in the UK, any competitors they have are very “London” orientated which is not very useful if you live anywhere else. That’s why we think we’ve got to give these guys a well done, it’s nice to know that someone thinks about all of us that don’t live in South.

Finally if you are a business traveller you may want to think about the Car Club idea as an alternative. Many business people claim they need a car because customers are not very close to the railway station or airport but this gives a great alternative, get your train to the nearest city and then hire the car to get to your customer ….. simple and less stressful.

Using the service is really easy and you can find out more details of how it all works by taking a look at their website here

Make your business even greener with Carbon Neutral Hosting

We all know that computers use a great deal of electricity and are partly responsible for increases in energy use over the past few years. That’s why we thought we’d do a quick review of the Carbon Neutral Hosting web site www.carbonneutralhosting.biz . Based in the UK they offer a range of services from web hosting to email accounts and with more and more companies moving towards cloud based applications it is more than likely that many businesses will look for a way to offset the increased energy requirements.

The company offsets the amount of CO2 generated by their servers, which, as we all know, has a positive effect on the environment and can also add an additional string to any corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. For any company that is looking to balance their emissions we’d recommend that they take a look at the company and if possible use their services.

Overall the site is well laid out and provides enough information about the services they offer and the benefits to business both in practical terms with the services they deliver but also to the environment. I personally would like to see a calculator to see how much CO2 is needed to be offset but I’m pretty sure that will be on the way soon.

Please let us know about any other similar services so that we can review them in the future.

Green shopping that saves money

Kelkoo Environmental Room

Kelkoo is a well known price comparison web site and in fact we used it only the other morning to find a new coffee machine for the office. The best thing about the site is saving you the time so you don’t go to every web site on the net just one.

Launched on Wednesday (27 August) Kelkoo have now entered the green revolution with the launch of an environmental room (CLICK HERE TO OPEN SITE) – aimed at helping you save money by looking for green products the page has an energy calculator and lists a series of products that are energy efficient (green) and save money.

On the downside we did a very simple search “light bulbs” in the main section of the site and were disappointed to see that energy efficient bulbs were not listed first. Obviously Kelkoo have received awards for their Green initiatives but it is not possible to put some obvious green recommendations first ??? After all they have popularity and cost as the listing options – why not green?

Overall we have always liked Kelkoo – yes they get a payment if you follow the links but just think of the time you can save – no more surfing for hours and you can actually find some pretty good bargains.

Three stars for Kelkoo on this one – the environmental room is a good idea and we’d love it to be an option on the main site search. Just maybe someone will take notice and introduce this in the future.
