Green Power – The way forward

Powerfreakz Solar Charger reviewNext time you are in the office take a look and see how many hand held devices are on charge. In our office just now we have three mobiles as well as the trusty digital camera and an iPod plugged in all using power when they probably don’t need to.

That’s why when WhatsGoodOnTheWeb was asked to take a look at the Powerfreakz 2500solar portable charger we jumped at the chance. Basically this is a solar charging station for your mobile or ipod, it comes with all the relevant adaptors so you can plug it in to practically anything.

The cost of the charger is about £49.99 which is a little pricey when you can just plug your phone in the wall but this does not account for how much it costs to charge a mobile. We found an article online that said it costs up to 8 pence a time to charge a mobile so every year your mobile costs you about £30 to charge.

If you use the Powerfreakz 2500every day you could save a small fortune and don’t forget that by using a solar charger you are also helping the environment so we think this is an essential item for every travellers kitbag.

Cash for your old mobile phones

www.mopay.co.uk

If you’ve not heard about this site you are definitely missing out. With over 60 million old mobiles phones lying around in drawers throughout the UK they could be worth millions of pounds. Mopay is one of a number of mobile phone recycling companies that now offer you the chance of turning your old mobile phone into cash. They were the first on the market and are also used by a number of major companies.

The process is really simple:

  • Visit www.mopay.co.uk
  • Find your old phone and see how much it is worth
  • enter the details and add your address
  • In a few days you get a freepost envelope to send in your old mobile
  • You get cash for your old mobile within about 7 days after it has been tested
  • Simple

We’ve rated the site four star – it looks good and is fairly easy to use and whats even better is you get cash for your old mobile.

Free Mobile Phone Back Up

www.mobyko.com

If you are anything like me and the rest of the team here we are always changing mobile phones. Every time I do I have to go through the task of remembering to copy numbers from my phone to SIM card and then from the SIM to the phone and vice versa and invariably I loose a few numbers. Being too lazy to connect the phone to my computer (and to be honest already having too many gadgets attached!!) I really wanted a simple way to do this.

Mobyko basically takes this pain away and I’ve got to say I am a great fan.

I first came across the site in 2006 and to be honest it was a bit clunky and the technology sort of worked but not very well. Since then the guys have done a fantastic job.

What you need to do

  • Visit the site
  • Follow the instructions

That’s it really – within a few minutes you receive a text with relevant connection software and you then back up your numbers and anything else you want. I personally don’t use all the features but if your life is in your phone get on this site quickly. What’s more it’s FREE.

Hopefully the guys at Mobyko will give us a few words in the future to add to the site to give you the full low down on the solution.

This is definetly a Four Star site.
